                                 Lesson #1  Grade K-5

Scripture: “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).

1) Sing a song.

2) Pray for what you’re going to teach them and that they will understand the lesson.

3) Ice Breaker: Stretch out by everyone getting up and roll their shoulders and
bend over and touch their toes, then exercise by having a push-up or set-up contest, etc.

4) Ask… What kinds of sports can you do to help you be able to physical train?
    yourself?

5) Ask… What is more important, physical training (exercise) or godliness? (praying,
reading your bible, serving the poor, obeying your parents, etc.).

6) Pass out some pieces of paper and ask everyone to write down seven specific things
they can do this week that would show godliness. This will give everyone a chance to
have one thing to work on each day of the week (If children aren’t able to write well or
seem stuck, suggest ideas and help them write out their spiritual goals).

7) After completing the writing assignment have everyone share what they wrote.

8) Pray again and have a great evening together.

9) Don’t forget to reflect back to the family night throughout the week when there’s a
challenge or when you’re having a fun time together.
